Industry-leading training in a format that fits your lifestyle.

For the student comfortable with online platforms and limited time to dedicate to in-person training, a Hybrid WFR course is a great choice to achieve your training goals. 30-40 hours of instructor-created online content will have you engaged and challenged from the first lesson through the final quiz, and you’ll find the 5-day in-person course full of the hands-on scenarios that NOLS Wilderness Medicine courses are famous for.

Hybrid WFR courses are offered year-round across the United States and in several international locations.

Featured Courses:
February 22-26, 2025 - Estes Park, Colorado
March 4-8, 2025 - Flagstaff, Arizona

Real Scenario Experience

The in-person training is full of hands-on scenarios that NOLS Wilderness Medicine courses are famous for.

If you spend time outdoors where access to medical care is delayed or communication is unreliable, WFR certification is designed for you. The WFR is the industry standard for professional guides, trip leaders, search and rescue team members, outdoor recreationists, and international travelers. In August 2024, National Ski Patrol announced that they will now accept patrollers with WFR certification.

Already have a WFR and are looking to recertify? We offer both Hybrid WFR recertification courses and classic WFR recertification courses. Find your course today.

The Hybrid WFR and the standard WFR each have a total of 80 hours of instruction.
